Macan Island in the Thousand Islands

Macan Island, meaning “tiger” is a secluded private island in the Thousand island, about 1.5 hours off the Jakarta shore by speed boat. With all the air pollution and the dirty rivers in the city it is hard to believe that there is a place untouched and unspoiled as this. This tiny little island has only a few villas built on it, owned and managed by Roderick des Tombes, an American, born and raised in Indonesia.
