Extremists are everywhere and they can do much harm in souring the view outsiders will have of a given nation… However many reservations people have about visiting Indonesia I can only say: “come and see, come and judge by yourself” – you will find things you like and agree with and you’ll find things that you may not agree with – but aren’t all coutries in the world like that?

You may be shocked by Jakarta’s traffic chaos – and so you should be – but it’s somehow organised and people do get home from work, eventually.

There are many critical issues facing Indonesia and ‘managing’ this country is a mighty challenge – the diverse cultures, religions and the shear size of the country spells disaster some would argue – well, it hasn’t happened and it certainly fares much better than many other countries void of such diversity and multitude of challenges…
