Dewi, pertama, terima kasih atas koreksinya ... maksud saya mba Halim, bukan sallim. Secondly, are you her friend? You sure know a lot about her.

I think as Indonesians we all do our own thing to promote the country. We are all nationalists at heart, hahaha.

If you have time go to youtube and search "Jakartaguy" there are some silly pieces but a couple of really good pieces on the deep natural beauty of our country.

cheers all

PS: Can we change the topic to Dominic Brian?? He kicked butt for Indonesia at the World Memory Championships in China. YAYYYY Dominic.

Jg waktu dia menang dia bs berbicara bhs indonesia walaupun pake logat bule.
So let me ask how many of the population in indonesia know bhs indo fluently? More specifically formal bhs indo. Most, esp in outlying provinces speak like local dialect first and formost. Ask kerenina yourself before u jump to judge her, u mite b surprised at all the plcs in indo she has visited, learning firsthand the local traditions n customs. She's prolly been to more plcs n seen more of inddonesia than any of u who has criticized her in this blog! Many of u jakartans, take ur holiday to some foreign destination, u never have the desire to explore ur own beautiful country. Notice that the miss is chosen to represent in an international contest, just like u would choose ur ambassadors to speak the language of the country they get posted to, she speaks english to better be able to promote n represent indo in an english speaking contest. For those of u who get ur kicks out of criticising the few indonesians who r brave enough to go before the public to represent our country, let me ask u what u are doin to promote our country or bring greater awareness to our culture n countries potential. If u think u can do better, go ahead, stand up and make ur voice heard. I dare say the main things u say abt jakarta or our country to foreigners is the "problems" we have macet, pollusi, korupsi. People, she Is half american yet she says I'm proud to be an indonesian! Are you? If u are, what are u doing abt it?

All right .... it's done .... she is no longer Miss Indonesia ... her term is done. We can all rest and relax now, hahahahha.
The only conspiratorial issue now is if Asyifa Syafiningdyah Putrimbami Latif (the newly crowned Miss Indonesia) is somehow related to the Latief conglomerate and has somehow gained the title illegitimately ..... but that's just gossip mongering.

Hopefully Ms Salim will spend her extra time out of the limelight learning bahasa ....

i just think its ridiculous to pick someone to stay in such position while she actually doesnt even bothered to learn the language. come on..u live for 23 years in indonesia and u cant even speak the langauge fluently..
and now its just hit your head how important it is to learn indonesian bcoz u just got selected as miss indonesia.
honestly..no matter how high the level of education tht u got and no matter how sexy or pretty u are..its still DOES NOT mean a thing if u dont know indonesian culture and U'RE NOT even fluent in indonesian.
i am mesmerized by the judges decision that this woman is actually has taken the place as miss indonesia. and to be quite frank why dont the judge just change the title as "MISS FOREIGNER" instead of miss indonesia ????
judges...u should be ashamed of yourselves.
and to u karenina...i dunno what this miss indonesia means to u but u definitely LOST if think u deserve to be in this position.

Her brother said she's a homy person so she couldn't have the chance to learn & speak Indonesian. If living in the country but she still doesn't have time to learn the major language, I wander if she ever learn any other thing about Indonesia.
This is Indonesian and local pageant for god sake, foreign speaking is just an EXTRA ADVANTAGE!

Well, from my point of view, it's pretty weird. Miss Indonesia is presenting Indonesia itself at the Miss World pageant. If she doesn't know Indonesian literature and cultures, what would she presented? Well, that's what I think. It's okay for anyone to disagree, because, for me it's just weird o_0

Indri, many women in Indonesia look like her. And all over the world, no matter what country you are in, the people with the most "international appeal" make it.
It can be because you look a certain way, carry yourself a certain way, speak English with an American accent etc. Same way when you go to the U.S., it can benefit you to stand out in some way.

You often see yourself as you are from the standpoint of where you grew up, but when you go to different parts of the world, you realize that what somewhere can be considered a handicap, can in other parts of the world be considered a plus.

You guys should be proud of your Miss Indonesia. In South Africa we have many races as well as mixed. We have had an Indian Miss South Africa and we were extremely proud of her. We have had : Portuguese, White, Black, Indian, and mixed Miss South Africa's and there was no problem. Indonesians should not discriminate so much!
I think she is a beautiful girl and as a representative of your country, she should be honoured by her fellow citizens.

the bule look always win nowadays. see sinetron, movie of indonesia, if u half bule, ur stair to heaven is simply easy.

And this is also a must requirement for Miss Indonesia or Puteri Indonesia.
what make me feel so sorry is, truly Indonesian average woman doesn't look like her. (tall, white, etc). So where is the Potray of REAL Indonesian woman..??

Also, for sure she can speak english fluently, she from mix blood, who apparently talk english for god sake.
